ASSIGNMENT, Part 1: Write or outline a sermon or sermon series on these scriptures:

1 Corinthians 3:1-15
(Focus on verses 1-3)

Hebrews 5:11-14;

1 Corinthians 8:1-3

Use these “Monroe’s Mountain” study questions to exegete the scripture.

What gets your attention?
What are the main points in the text?

What human needs or problems are addressed in the scripture?

What questions do you have about the text that you would ask a seminary professor?

What solution or hope does the text offer?
What does it say that we need to obey?

What would a camera see if this happened? If people obeyed?

Who needs to hear this?
In general – example, people who are divorcing:
Specifically – example, my friend Bill who is going through a divorce:

What are the actual steps that I would take to implement God’s solution?

What stories or anecdotes or quotes would help illustrate the human need or problem?

What stories or anecdotes or quotes would help us visualize God’s solution happening before our eyes?

Story: a joke or tale, probably fictional
Anecdote: something that happened to me or someone in real life.
Quote: something someone said that is really poetic or meaningful.

Preach your sermons to each other.
Learn new insights from each other.
Share the stories with each other.
